Christian Bella is officially Tanzanian
Popular Bongofleva music artist with a taste for R&B and Afro-pop, Christian Bella has been granted Tanzanian citizenship.
This was stated in Dar es Salaam by the Minister of Home Affairs, George Simbachawene today, Thursday, December 18, 2025, being World Migrants Day.
Simbachawene said that Tanzania has a large number of migrants and some of them have been granted citizenship.
“Where is he going now, he has arrived, he is married here, he has children here and he will have grandchildren here. He works well, he has no mistakes, he has followed the procedure and the entire time he has lived here he has paid the right amount, not just others who are just seeking citizenship,” said Simbachawene.
He said that a person can be granted citizenship and it will be revoked if he does not follow the procedure: “We cannot grant citizenship to someone who is dangerous or who is becoming dangerous, so there is ‘vetting’ that has been done before someone is granted citizenship.”
Initially, Bella was a citizen of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) who has lived in Tanzania for a long time doing artistic activities.
Christian Bella entered Tanzania between 2006 and 2009. He came to the country due to political and economic challenges that were affecting the music industry in his country, which made him seek new opportunities to develop his talent.
Tanzania provided him with a good environment to develop his music and eventually gained great popularity in the East African country. While in Tanzania, Christian Bella began working with the band Akudo Impact, which helped him quickly gain recognition through his songs that were loved by dance music fans, especially the song “Walimwengu Si Binadamu.”
After gaining experience and popularity, he separated from the band and later started his own band called Malaika Music Band, which has been under his management and has contributed greatly to his musical journey.
In general, Christian Bella has worked with two major bands while in Tanzania, namely Akudo Impact and Malaika Music Band. Through these bands, as well as collaborations with various artists from Tanzania and Africa in general, he has been able to establish himself as one of the greatest dance and rumba singers in Tanzania.
